Last year, I would have bought it all. But standing there today, after spending time playing with my children, I didn’t spend a single yen on myself.
My hand reached for the luxury jacket, but my mind went to two places: my kids’ future and my stock portfolio. Every yen I save now is a brick for the fortress I’m building for them.
I also shared an important lesson with my two boys. I told them: “Papa’s time with you is limited. Unlike the time you spend with your mother, our hours together are short. That is why I need you two to consult with each other, negotiate, and decide together what we do. I hope you can learn to compromise and make the most of every precious minute we have.”
People call it a sacrifice. I call it a choice. I’ve found a thrill that no luxury brand can provide—the thrill of being the father they can rely on.
My engine is fueled by their laughter, not by new shoes and accessories.
